Darkness Vs Me – A Song of Every Fighter’s Life!

It was the darkest night I had ever seen. It was stormy rain outside, causing a power outage in the whole area that night. The monster of darkness was ready to devour me, and I was scared to death. Whenever I got scared of darkness, my mother would be by my side to hug and comfort me.

Whenever I woke up screaming at night after experiencing a nightmare or a bad dream, my mother would always be by my side. She would caress me by moving her hand tenderly on my chest. She would comfort me with her soft, loving voice, and then all of my fears would run away.

And now, she can’t be physically here with me to comfort and hug me, but she has already trained me to fight the darkness and all my fears on my own. So, this is a story of my fight against darkness on that stormy, dark night:

A night view of outside -- the darkness, trees, and white-blue lightning in the dark blue sky.

I’m sitting in this room in the middle of this dark night,

Thinking “I can’t take it anymore, I just wanna give up this fight!”,

This darkness is scaring the shit out of me,

It’s reminding me of Shakespeare’s quote ‘To be or not to be’,

It’s telling me “You’re a loser, Satish, and in this lifetime, there’s nothing else you can be!

So, accept your defeat, get down on your knees, and just surrender to me!”,

But I feel there’s a little ounce of hope still left in me,

To defeat this darkness, all I need is a little ray of light, although right now it’s so hard to see,

Her touch…her loving, sweet voice…I’ve lost everything,

But my broken heart is still beating,

There’s nothing left in my pocket,

But one thing I still have is my mother’s last smiling picture dangling around my neck in this half-broken locket,

I look at it and even in this engulfing darkness, I can see her looking at me smiling so bright,

I hear her telling me, “My sweet boy, you’re my son, and I want you to get back up and carry on this fight!”

So, I smile back at her picture, and all of sudden, through a slit in the wall of my room, I see coming, a glimmering morning ray of light,

Now the darkness is beginning to quit, I see it’s the end of its dark night,

This fight has been won, and I’m ready for another dark night,

I’m ready for another dark fight,

I’m Satish Shanta Yashwant Kadam, I carry this name with pride, and I know nothing, but only how to fight,

Come hell or high water, raging storm or devouring night,

I’m her son. I’ll always smile and put up a brave fight…

I’ll always smile and put up a brave fight…

Darkness v Me
I’m her son and I will always be her son from here to eternity.
